Brattskar, Polluveer, and Konttinen Hoist Trophies at the OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix
Posted on 15. May 2024
Tuesday was the final day before the €555 PLO 4&5 Main Event kicks off at the 2024 OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix at Olympic Park Casino.
The Finnish dominance displayed throughout the week by winning the first five of six trophies waned at the beginning of the day as they came up shy in the first two events with Norway’s Tommy Brattskar and Estonia’s Erik Polluveer earning Spring Mix hardware. However, Juhana Konttinen saved Finland from being shut out on the day by winning the final event meaning the streak continues with at least one Finnish player winning a trophy every day during the Spring Mix.
While tournaments line players up with fame and sometimes fortune, many are enjoying the cash games running around the clock with nearly a mouth-watering €109,000 on tap in the Bad Beat Jackpot.
Check out the results from Tuesday of the 2024 OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix at Olympic Park Casino.
Tommy Brattskar Wins €250 NLH Deepstack

Event #8: €250 NLH Deepstack attracted nearly a couple of dozen more entries during the second and final day to grow the field up to 88 entries for a €18,586 prize pool.
This was the event for the Finns, who showcased a good early performance after winning five of the first six trophies. However, they were shut out of both multi-day events from winning hardware thus far this festival after no Finnish player advanced further than Dan Tolppanen’s eighth-place finish with countrymates in €150 PLO 4&5 Cards trophy winner Jani Halenius and Day 1 chip leader Juhana Konttinen hitting the rail just before. At least Konttinen was able to wipe away any tears with a deeper run later in the day to hoist a trophy.
Meanwhile, Estonia had its first chance to keep a trophy how with the formidable duo of Mark Metsla and Taago Tamm battling it out for the title and the tasty €5,555 top prize. However, instead, Tommy Brattskar defeated Metsla heads-up to award the first trophy home to Norway.

Erik Polluveer Wins First Trophy for Estonia
Event #11: €250 NLH/PLO5 Progressive Bounty attracted an enthusiastic field of 25 entries to create a prize pool of €5,200 with €2,780 in the actual prize pool and another €2,500 in progressive bounties.
It appeared this was destined to be another event won by a player from Finland with seven Finnish players and two from Estonia battling it out at the final table.
However, the dynamics quickly changed after four Finnish players quickly hit the rail before the money including €250 HORSE champion Erno Suominen, Jukka Juvonen, Juhana Konttinen, and €150 PLO 4&5 Cards champion Jani Halenius.
Two more Finnish players went out first in the money pushing in Vesa Nieminen and Risto Ponnio before the first non-Finn hit the rail at the final table in Roman Korkin leaving Estonia’s Erik Polluvver and Finland’s Marko Juhani Passikoski heads-up for the title. Both players already earned a €680 prize from the prize pool with much more to play for thanks to the big progressive bounties at the end.
The local community can relax as Polluveer won the first trophy for Estonia by defeating Passikoski after a nearly one-hour heads-up battle.

Juhana Konttinen Gets Finland Back on Track
Finland’s Juhana Konttinen has been grinding in nearly every event on the schedule with some deep runs. So, it should be of little surprise that he battled during all three side events on Tuesday. While he managed a cash earlier in the day in the €250 NLH Deepstack, he came up empty in the €150 NLH Turbo Bounty.
He can finally go home with at least one trophy from the 2024 OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix as he defeated a field of 34 entries in Event #13: €150 NLH Turbo Bounty to win €948 from the prize pool and even more from the bounties he collected along the way including from Phil Gross who he eliminated heads-up en route to victory.
Estonia’s Stanislav Smeljov, €150 NLH Crazy Pineapple champion from Finland Tapio Aaltonen, and Lithuania’s Donatas Kuliesa also claimed a share of the €2,611 prize pool with many others grabbing a piece of the €1,700 in the bounty pool.
